Day 1: "Our Father in heaven, may your name be holy"

The Lord’s Prayer

“‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Prompt

Take a moment to reflect on the holiness of God. What does it mean for God’s name to be "hallowed" or set apart as holy? How does recognizing God’s holiness shape your understanding of who He is and how you approach Him in prayer?

Prayer

God, you are a loving parent awaiting our return to our eternal home. You are in heaven and here, walking alongside and caring for us. You protect us under your wings and equip us to fly. Your discipline is from a place of love, constantly reminding us of your consistent presence and goodness. We cannot fully understand your holiness, yet we fully believe it. Your presence is too heavy to describe, yet we feel the lightness. Your beauty too unimaginable, yet recognizable. Your voice powerful yet gentle and inviting. You hear all at once yet each voice is distinct, charished, and heard.

You call us to be one—one church, one body, one family. You command us to carry your name with righteousness. May we not forsake our brother or sister. May how we love one another be a reflection and witness to your holiness and goodness. We lay down all idols and lift up your holy name, YHWH.

Reflect

Consider ways you can represent God’s holiness today—whether through worship, serving others, or turning away from something that doesn’t align with His character.
