Day 2: "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

The Lord’s Prayer

“‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Prompt

Jesus says to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness first. Since Jesus did what he spoke, what are some ways He sought after God’s kingdom and righteousness? How does Jesus’ seeking, clarify your vision and seeking?

Prayer

God, yours is the only kingdom that will remain standing when all is said and done. Your kingdom is the only kingdom ruled with complete love, justice, and mercy. Jesus modeled the life as one seeking after your kingdom and righteousness first, and we desire to be like Jesus. We repent of any “my kingdom” mentality and turn to seek your kingdom, solely. Open our hearts, minds, eyes, and ears and direct us on the path you have set before us. To love the shamed, to welcome the outcast, and make space for the marginalized. May the heart and will of Jesus, be our heart and will.

Reflect

Consider the ways the Holy Spirit is directing you towards God’s kingdom and righteousness.
