Day 6: "deliver us from the evil one"

The Lord’s Prayer

“‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Prompt

The evil one is like a roaring lion, waiting to devour us; the father of lies, trying to pull us away from the truth. He is the enemy of love and justice; the one who takes every opportunity to deceive us. And he’s good at it… Yet there is no judgment for those who are with Jesus; nothing can separate us from the Love of God. The Holy Spirit continues to transform our hearts and minds, delivering us from our selfish desires, man made traditions and definitions of love and justice, and the ways of this world. God’s mercies, grace, deliverance is new every morning.

Prayer

Jesus, through your sacrifice and my faith in you, I am no longer a slave to sin and death. Yet, I live in a broken world and I get deceived, lied to, and hurt—the enemy uses these to draw me away from you. And every day, you rescue me. You are my refuge. You are the good shepherd who finds me wandering, hurt, lost, missing. No matter how many times I stray, you deliver me back to where I belong, with you. You are faithful to your promise that nothing can separate me from you—great is your faithfulness!

Reflect

Consider the ways God has rescued you through a song, a word, a person, a miracle, etc.—call these altar moments. Spend time writing them down and thanking God for these altar moments, and ask that you may be a vessel He uses to be an altar moment for someone else.
